What we run into in practice: regulations, costs, cases and reference material for importers and exporters.
- Regulations and documents
Before you import: BRS, AGRIM, EORI and TRACES
Before you can import or export, a few things have to be in place. An importer from another EU member state cannot simply import through the Netherlands, and rice and other agricultural products require separate registrations. Arranged in advance, none of this holds up a shipment. Arranged too late, the container waits while the clock runs.
BRS number and AGRIM
The BRS number is a registration with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO). For agricultural products such as rice an AGRIM authorisation is required as well. We apply for both on your behalf. Allow one to two weeks, so start early.
Customs representation
For the declaration to be filed in your name, the customs broker needs a direct representation authorisation, for import and for export. An importer from another EU member state also needs limited fiscal representation. Both are usually in place within a few working days.
What you arrange yourself
You apply for your EORI number and TRACES registration yourself. We tell you which ones you need.
