Shipping steel, sheet piling and tubes

  • For dikes, quays and building pits

  • Warehouses with the right equipment

  • Loaded the way it is unloaded

Unloading determines loading
With steel, sheet piling and sections for flood defences, quay walls or excavation support, the weight gets all the attention, but the unloading decides the loading. Out of a container a forklift with a boom attachment pulls the bundles out; on a flat rack or as breakbulk a crane lifts them from above. We ask in advance what equipment the receiver has, and match the bundle size and the loading to it.
  • The right warehouse

Not every warehouse can handle steel. We pick locations with the equipment to load tubes and sections safely.

  • Secured for sea

Steel and tubes have to stay put. We have the securing done by parties licensed to do it for sea transport.

  • Planning and proof

With several containers we coordinate collection, loading and return to the terminal. You receive a loading report per container.

  • Case: 29 tonnes of steel: from two containers to one flat rack

For a shipment of sheet piling sections to the United States a booking of two 40ft containers was initially in place, based on the weight of 29 tonnes. On working it through, the cargo turned out to fit within the dimensions of a single 40ft flat rack, which came out cheaper than two containers. RoRo was more expensive for this destination. We booked via Antwerp rather than Rotterdam, because a direct sailing was available there.

    The result

One flat rack instead of two containers, at lower cost and with a direct sailing.
