Rail and barge: intermodal across Europe

  • Lower emissions per shipment

  • Inland barge from both ports

  • Predictable, planned transit times

Off the road, onto the network
Rail and barge are the sensible alternative once distances grow or road capacity tightens. From Rotterdam and Antwerp we move containers and breakbulk inland by barge, and by rail to inland terminals across Europe. Both lower emissions per shipment and make you less dependent on driver availability at peak times.
  • Inland barge

Containers and steel inland by barge, from either port.

  • Rail

Scheduled services to inland terminals, connecting to road for final delivery.

  • Intermodal planning

We pick the combination that meets your deadline, not just the cheapest leg.

  • Case: Textile machinery from Switzerland, moved under merchant haulage

For a shipment of used textile machinery from Switzerland to India we loaded twelve containers in three days. The shipment ran ex works, so everything from the factory door was ours to arrange: the Swiss export declaration, the T1 to the load port, and the intermodal pre carriage, which we arranged ourselves under merchant haulage rather than leaving it to the carrier.

    The result

All containers went on one barge and one ocean sailing, with customs documentation, planning and communication coordinated in house.
